Fast Shutter Speed Photographs

I think this photo was the most successful out of the other similar ones I took. I was trying to achieve an image where the water was emerging from the subjects hands. Also I wanted the shape of the water to appear in a interesting way, allowing the viewer of the image to interpret the shape in their own way. The problem with this photo is that I didn't set the shutter speed fast enough, in result I didn't capture the water clearly as I intended to. Also, I think that a different background could work better and maybe if the ISO was turned up a little.

The unsuccessful photos:

  • This was unsuccessful because it was not the way I wanted the water to shape. Also the water is out of focus because the shutter speed was not fast enough. It should be zoomed in more.

  • The next photo was unsuccessful because again the water droplets were not in focused and they weren't as visible as I wanted them to be. Also, the camera should have been positioned lower and I should have zoomed in closer to the subjects hands and I took it too late.

  • The third photo down was unsuccessful because there was not enough water in the frame. Although, I like the fact that the focus is on the water droplets and everything else is out of focus.

  • This could have been a good photo but the water is out of focus because the shutter speed was at a slower speed than it should have been.

In this photo I aimed to capture the bubbles that were blown by the subject, while putting the background out of focus. I was partly successful in achieving that. I managed to bring the focus on the subject and the bubbles but I couldn't capture the bubbles on any of the photos due to the wind and the faulty formula of the bubbles. Something I would change is the ISO, I would bring it down to make the photo a bit darker.I should have considered other backgrounds and experiment with that.

 The unsuccessful photos:

  • The focus on this photo is quite good however instead of bubbles only the soap showed in the frame.

This photo was taken by Ella. She aimed to capture the subject blowing glitter from their hands. This photo was difficult to achieve as not only it was windy so the glitter didn't stay in place for a long time, we also didn't have enough glitter. We could have experimented with angles and move the camera closer to the subject however we didn't want to get the glitter all over the camera. Maybe of the background was darker

The unsuccessful photos:

These photos are unsuccessful because we didn't have enough of glitter to make the image effective.  Also the camera is too far away and the photos could have been positioned in a different way. Also the red glitter wasn't as successful as the gold one as the gold one reflected more light. The last photo out of the three was when the wind blew and the glitter got in my eyes, that might be exaggerated, it just blew in my face. The camera should have been zoomed in on the subjects hands and lower half of the face to bring the focus towards the movement of the glitter.

4.

In this photo I aimed to capture the water falling of the subjects hand. I was successful in blurring the background while keeping the hand in focus. However, the shutter speed wasn't fast enough to capture the water the way I wanted it to. It came out blurry whereas if the shutter speed was faster the water droplets would be clearer. Also I should have positioned the camera so that the water bottle could not be visible and at the same time placing the subjects hand at the top of the photo

The same applies to this photo as in the one above.
This photo is too dark so I should have increased the ISO.
This photo was taken too late and I didn't capture the water.

5.
In this photo the aim was to capture the subject doing a cartwheel. Apart from the fact that it looks quite cool, the camera should have been positioned in a different way. This shot would look better if the camera was turned vertically in order to see the whole body of the subject and also form a lower angle. The shutter speed would have to be increased as well because the movement looks a bit blurry.

6.
Ella aimed to capture the subject in mid air and she successfully did. Although, a different background could be considered to make the photo more interesting. Also the camera should be turned vertically to capture the subject only and not the excess background. The subject looks a little blurry so the shutter speed should be changed to higher.
In this photo the ISO was turned up to much and also the subject looks blurry.

Bonus Slow Shutter Speed

We attempted to do the slow shutter speed but it was very difficult.
